Gidday Tim
After reading your Cape Runaway blog I ventured out from the Whanagapaparoa River @ Waihou Bay on Tuesday. Full of inspiration I went geared up with speed jigging gear with my mind set on my first kayak kingi. Headed out on glassy water but Just past the lighthouse rounding the cape it was a DIFFERENT WORLD. Faced with 2m breaking swells mixed with stories from a neighbouring camper of high shark numbers on my own, I settled for some soft bait action in calmer waters just before the point. managed this bag limit in an hour and was back at camp for breakfast! Nothing record breaking but the biggest specimen coming in at just under 70cm it was a great morining. Made even better being surrounded by $70k+ boats catching donuts!  A truly spectacular place full of energy and marine life. Aiming to be back when the winds are favourable!! Thanks for the tip!

What our customers say

quote Now I've stopped running I wanted to drop you a line to say a massive thank you for your incredible guiding services to get us across the Cook Strait. You put faith in us, with a lot of unknowns, and it was so cool how we pulled it off. It adds such a special twist to what I've achieved, and I think it will be very difficult to re-create.
It's been a very special adventure and we're so grateful for your contribution towards it.
Best wishes,
Jez Bragg.
