Quick Tauranga Fishing Update

Written by Tim Taylor on February 3rd, 2014.      1 comments

Hey Team,
the fishing is really heating up in Tauranga right now. Snapper are coming in really close and I'm receiving regular reports of kingfish being caught inside the harbour. Yesterday I had a morning fishing tour but due to wind and swell we were restricted to the harbour. We were fishing only a stones throw from the Mount and managed to catch some fat snapper.

Details are...
GPS location: 37°38.253 S, 176°10.153E

Target: snapper
Method: strayline - use a 3oz ball sinker above your swivel, a 1.5m 20lb fluorocarbon trace, and snell on two 4/0 octopus style hooks.
Bait: whole pilchard
Tide: incoming
Time of day: any
Location notes: either drift along channel edge or anchor in 17-20m of water (be prepared to move for any ships).

What our customers say

quote Now I've stopped running I wanted to drop you a line to say a massive thank you for your incredible guiding services to get us across the Cook Strait. You put faith in us, with a lot of unknowns, and it was so cool how we pulled it off. It adds such a special twist to what I've achieved, and I think it will be very difficult to re-create.
It's been a very special adventure and we're so grateful for your contribution towards it.
Best wishes,
Jez Bragg.
