Here at NZ Kayaker we have some pretty awesome adventures and with the help of a few cameras we are now able to share these with you. So find a comfy couch, grab some popcorn, and ready yourself to get inspired.

Hey Team,
it's been a pretty lean winter for fishing but over the weekend I snuck in a brief trip to Omaio with my old mate Mormie.
Hey Team,
as many of you may know whitewater is where I got my background in paddling...it's fast, exhilarating, and addictive. With the extreme weather that hit NZ last week, my buddies got together for a mission on a couple of local rivers. These are only 20 minutes from home and it's why I love the Bay of Plenty. Chur!
We had a wicked day out fishing from Rogers Road during a Sunday Session recently. Check out the action.
Hey Team, I've just done a couple of quick updates to my Lowrance Elite 7 HDI sounder and thought you might like to check out how to do them yourself. Even if you don't have an Elite 7, these techniques should apply to the whole Lowrance range.
With a rare spare Sunday to myself, I decided to head out and have some fun. The highlight of the day was a massive pod of dolphins that stayed with me for more than 10 minutes.

Kaituna Reloaded

On Saturday the 22nd of February, my mate Dave and I decided to test the abilities of our fishing kayaks by taking them down a grade 4 whitewater river...what happened was an entertaining mix of adrenalin, mishaps, and good times.

Mayor Island Mothership Trip

On February 9th 2014, I lead a team of 7 kayakers out to Mayor Island on a mothership trip. Situated 44km out from Tauranga, Mayor Island is a true off-shore destination and is renowned for its kingfish...we weren't disappointed.

Jigging at Schooner Rocks

My first experience mechanical jigging out at Schooner Rocks in the Bay of Plenty. This location is 17km off-shore so it's a big day but the results were well worth it.

Cook Strait 2014

In December 2014 I had the privilege of guiding two intrepid explorers across Cook Strait. This was part of a larger expedition that they were undertaking so it was great that we managed to find the perfect weather gap for them to complete their goals.

Kaituna

A quick glimpse into the world of whitewater kayaking on the Kaituna River.

Cook Strait

On the 6th of January 2013 I guided Jez Bragg and Mark Taylor across Cook Strait in single sea kayaks. We did it in a total of 9 hours and had an absolutely amazing trip.

Ngama's, Manga's & Wairoa.

Filmed back in 2010, this vid shows what it's like to paddle 3 consecutive rivers that are in flood. The Ngamuwahine (Ngama's) flows into the the Mangakarengorenga (Manga's), and finally into the Wairoa River. This is high water paddling at it's craziest!

Kayaking with Dolphins

During my New Zealand sea kayaking expedition I often paddled with groups of dolphins. This is a short clip from one of those experiences.

Kayaking with Orca.

While training for my New Zealand expedition, I was fortunate to paddle with a pod of orca whales one morning.

Kayaking Huka Falls

What do two slightly hungover kayakers do to recover...they go paddling! Dave Jagg's and I decided to go and paddle Huka Falls one morning.

Manga's

A quick insight into paddling a flooded river - the Mangakarengorenga.

What our customers say

quote Now I've stopped running I wanted to drop you a line to say a massive thank you for your incredible guiding services to get us across the Cook Strait. You put faith in us, with a lot of unknowns, and it was so cool how we pulled it off. It adds such a special twist to what I've achieved, and I think it will be very difficult to re-create.

It's been a very special adventure and we're so grateful for your contribution towards it.

Best wishes,

Jez Bragg.
